Starting with the Poila Boishakh in April, to Christmas in December, West Bengal celebrates all! But of course the prime festival even till today is Durga Puja. People eagerly wait for the occasion since the beginning of the year and its preparations start as early as some 2-3 months back. While the deities deck up in the Kumartuli, the pandals are prepared with highest precision by skilled artisans, the occasion involves highest expenses.
Culturally speaking, the merrymaking does not halt here as we see each and every people start their heaviest shopping during this time. The rush is so much that if you are planning to have tailored dresses, you have to approach almost a month before! Never mind that anyhow.
